Learning Systems Poland Sp. z o.o. – the largest and quickly growing network of language schools in Poland. Nearly 80 schools nationwide and the use of innovative teaching methods make LSP the leader on the foreign language teaching market. The company manages two brands: empik school and Speak Up. In 2010 Learning Systems Poland was ranked first among the Polish language schools.

empik school – a network of language schools in more than 30 cities. Over 50 years of experience in foreign language teaching makes empik school the oldest network of language schools in Poland. The school offers courses at all levels, for all age groups. A special course for kids, Kids Love English, has been developed, with competitions, games and holiday breaks. Empik school offers classes for corporations and governmental institutions. The school offers courses in the most popular foreign languages and also Polish language courses for foreigners. Classes are conducted by qualified teachers. Each school employs a methodologist and the most experienced teachers act as advisors; this ensures regular and professional supervision over the teaching quality. Students work in comfort rooms equipped with the latest multimedia equipment and use books of reputable publishers. The teaching efficiency is guaranteed by the application of the original educational method, the INSELL (Interactional Sequential Language Learning), which consists in improving communication skills depending on the age, sex and status of the interlocutor. This method improves learning the content and language skills in proper order. It also teaches how to work on improving language skills on student’s own. empik school uses a vast selection of opportunities offered by modern technologies. Speak Up – a brand that has been present in Poland since 2001. Over the years, a modern network of schools has been developed in the largest Polish cities. Speak Up offers original English courses for adults and corporations. Speak Up teaching method is based on the latest Blended Learning solutions, namely the effective combination of various teaching methods. This is the customised method, where a modern multimedia system and a vast selection of classes with a teacher allow the student immerse completely in the English language environment. A distinctive feature of the Speak Up system is flexibility i.e. no fixed hours. Courses can start at any time during the year and there are no semesters. Speak Up students can improve their language skills throughout the year by using E-Campus online educational platform, which features tests, films and interactive games.
In 2007 Speak Up began to develop a network of schools in Russia and Ukraine.

This segment is composed of the following operational companies: Empik Sp. z o.o. (a chain of stores in Poland which offers the complete selection of press, books, CDs, DVDs, games, stationery and tickets), Empik.com (a dynamic online distribution channel of Empik, one of the top visited e-commerce sites in Poland), Empik Cafe (a chain of cafés in Poland offering excellent combination of a traditional café and culture), LEM Sp. z o.o. (games distributor) and Pol Perfect (press distributor).

The segment consists of the international chain of Smyk stores and the Spiele Max chain which operates on the German market. Smyk offers a wide selection of toys, school accessories, books, multimedia, accessories for infants, as well as clothes and shoes for children up to 14. The chain operates on the Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and Romanian markets. The chain has its own brands (COOL CLUB – clothing and SMIKI – toys), available only in the chain stores. Spiele Max is the leader in the German retail sector of children products, such as toys, prams or furniture for babies. Since it was acquired by Smyk, the range of products has been expanded by clothing.

A network of language schools which operates in Poland (LSP), Ukraine (LSU) and Russia (LSR). The classes are conducted by qualified teachers and supervised by experienced methodologists. The educational process is widely based on the modern technologies and innovative teaching methods. The schools operate under the brands of empik school and Speak Up.

This segment includes operating companies which deal in retail (Ultimate Fashion, Maratex) and wholesale (Optimum Group). Ultimate Fashion is the Polish distributor of fashion brands such as New Look, Peacocks, River Island or Aldo. Maratex, which operates in Russia and Ukraine, manages the chain of apparel stores, such as Peacocks, River Island, Aldo, Orsay, Bodique or Esprit. Optimum Group distributes luxury cosmetics of prestigious brands and branded sports apparel.
